Smart Copy improves the text copying experience by cleaning copied text, optionally adding source context, and maintaining a local copy history. All processing is performed locally on the user’s device.

Data Collection

Smart Copy does not collect personal information.

The extension does not:

• collect browsing history
• collect personal or sensitive user data
• track user behavior
• use analytics or tracking services
• send data to external servers

Local Data Storage

Smart Copy uses Chrome’s storage API to store data locally in the browser.

This local data may include:

• extension settings selected by the user
• a local history of recently copied text

All stored data remains on the user’s device and is never transmitted outside the browser. Users can remove this data at any time by clearing the extension’s data or uninstalling the extension.

Clipboard Access

Smart Copy accesses the system clipboard only in response to explicit user actions, such as copying selected text.

This access is used solely to:

• provide a cleaned version of copied text
• optionally include source URL and date, based on user settings

Smart Copy does not monitor or read clipboard content outside of these actions.

Website Access

Smart Copy operates on web pages only to process text explicitly selected by the user.

This access is used to:

• remove unwanted formatting from copied text
• improve text readability
• optionally bypass artificial copy restrictions when enabled by the user

The extension does not modify website content beyond what is necessary to perform these functions.

Third-Party Services

Smart Copy does not use third-party services.

There are:

• no external APIs
• no analytics platforms
• no advertising services
• no data sharing with third parties

Data Security

Because Smart Copy operates locally and does not transmit data, all user data remains under the user’s control.
